Aviva FD replaces Symonds on Diageo board

Philip Scott to take over as drinks giant's audit committee boss when Jonathon Symonds stands down in October

Aviva FD Philip Scott has been appointed as Diageo's new audit committee chair.

On his appointment to the board on 17 October 2007, he will head the
audit committee and become a member of the nomination committee and remuneration panel.

He replaces former Astra Zeneca CFO Jonathan Symonds who retired as chairman of the audit committee this morning after serving a three-year term as a non-executive director. Symonds officially retires by from Diageo's board at the company's AGM on 16 October 2007.

The NYSE-quoted corporate said that Symonds would also not be seeking a further term on the board after taking up his new role at Goldman Sachs in order to comply with US audit committee independence standards.
