Jack Stakelum cannot hold a directorship for five years
Retired accountant
Jack
Stakelum, the former account administrator of the
Ansbacher global wealth management
group and prominent associate of the late controversial politician
Charles
Haughey, has been disqualified from involvement in the management
of any company for five years.
Justice Brian McGovern found that Stakelum had engaged ‘in a calculated way’
in activities which facilitated tax evasion, using an elaborate scheme to
conceal monies from Revenue authorities, the Irish media reported.
He was barred from holding a directorship on the grounds of ‘unfitness’.
His disqualification followed a report by inspectors investigating illegal
offshore accounts at Ansbacher, which criticised Stakelum.
