Accountants are beating lawyers in the race to help companies comply with the controversial governance reforms in the Companies Act, according to new research.
A survey of more than 200 businesses across the UK revealed that 60% of all business directors that have sought advice on the Companies’ Act have turned to their accountant rather than a lawyer, Lawyers Week reported
The study was carried out on behalf of Leeds Legal and questioned small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) about the Act, parts of which will come into force in October.
The survey also found that 42% of business leaders have not sought advice on the Act, while more than a third (37%) claimed to know nothing about it.
