Advisers move to snatch tax amnesty work

Chiltern steals a march on rivals by setting up a website in anticipation of expected HMRC offshore 'tax amnesty'

One of the leading tax firms has set up a new website in anticipation of HM Revenue & Customs' announcement of a 'tax amnesty' for offshore account holders.

With HMRC widely expected to reveal plans for offshore account holders to pay tax on undeclared income, Chiltern has set up a special website, www.offshoreamnesty.com, which will go live if an announcement is made by HMRC.

Any amnesty is likely to see hundreds of thousands of taxpayers come forward with undeclared liabilities to confess, meaning the likelihood of significant amounts of work for advisers.

The firm will also provide a 'hotline', 0845 351 0090, following an HMRC announcement.

Chiltern provides tax advice to individuals and business advisers.
