Accountant jailed after blowing £340,000 on hooker

Dunscar accountant jailed for two years

Written by AccountancyAge.com

Michael Lee, 59, an accountant from Shorefield Mount, Dunscar has been jailed for two years after using money he was supposed to bank to fund an infatuation with a prostitute.

During a five-year ‘relationship’ Lee stole £120,000 from Alec's Three Piece Suites Warehouse in Great Lever and also used £161,000 of his savings on the woman, as well as £60,000 he borrowed on credit cards, the Bolton Crown Court heard.

He covered his crimes by forging the accounts but eventually handed himself in to police in January this year after a colleague's wage cheque from the company had bounced.
