Hollywood star accused of dodging taxman

Wesley Snipes facing multiple tax fraud indictments

Written by AccountancyAge.com

Blade and Jungle Fever star Wesley Snipes is facing the prospect of a lengthy stint in jail if he is convicted on multiple charges of income tax fraud.

According to US reports, Snipes has been charged with dodging millions of dollars in taxes.

Federal prosecutors in Tampa have issued an eight-count indictment accusing Snipes and two other men - one of whom is a former accountant - of conspiracy to defraud the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and submitting fake claims.

The conspiracy and false claim charges carry a maximum sentence of five years imprisonment each, while Snipes could receive up to a 12-month jail term for each count of failing to file tax returns, prosecutors said.

Snipes has not yet commented publicly on the matter
