HMRC loses FD to local government

Stephen Jones to leave the taxman for Local Government Association

Written by Nicholas Neveling

Stephen Jones, the finance director of HM Revenue & Customs, has stepped down from the position to pursue a career in local government.

Jones will be the new director of finance and performance at the Local Government Association. He begins work at the LGA at the beginning of next year.

Jones said the position was one of the few he was interested in outside of the Revenue.

'When I heard about the position with the LGA, it turned out to be one of the few posts that I would have considered outside HMRC. That’s because it offers me a chance to use my skills in a completely different but equally exciting area of public service,' he said.
