Specsavers views update to finance function

Specsavers focus on document management technology

Written by Kevin Reed

Optician business Specsavers has chosen Version One to supply it with document management and ironically, imaging systems, as part of the company's project to update its finance function.

The contract should enable the automated data entry and electronic archiving of supplier invoices.

Specsavers director of finance Karen Dicks said: 'With the planned business expansion, the accounts department will soon be handling one million supplier invoices every year. To cope with such substantial volume, improve efficiency and free up thousands of feet of storage space, we identified the need for an automated purchase invoice processing system with an electronic archiving solution.’

Last year CedarOpenAccounts won a £500,000 contract with Specsavers to provide it with software to integrate all its financial systems.

COA has provided the opticians with centralised accounting software for the past eight years, and the new systems went live in Autumn.
