Hunter Rubber enters administration despite Royal seal of approval
The wellington boot company that has the Royal seal of approval and became
the height of fashion after Kate Moss wore its boots at the Glastonbury festival
has entered administration.
KPMG partners have been appointed administrators of Dumfries-based Hunter
Rubber, and an initial review of the company has resulted in the loss of 48 of
its 112 employees.
Joint administrator Richard Fleming said: ‘Regrettably, we have been
compelled to make redundancies, largely in production roles. This follows an
assessment of expected levels of production in the medium term.’
But hopes for the sale of the 150-year old business remain high, with more
than 30 potential suitors lined up.
