Accountants confident about recruitment prospects

ECHM survey paints upbeat picture for accounting recruitment over next year

A survey by head hunters ECHM has revealed that the accounting recruitment market is set for a bumper year.

In a survey of 460 finance professionals across the UK, ECHM found that the overwhelming majority of accountants working within commerce and public practice are optimistic about the job market for 2006.

Confidence is strongest in London & SE (79.4%) closely followed by Yorkshire & NE (77.8%) and lastly Manchester & NW (62.6%)

Accountants were also generally satisfied with their remuneration packages. Nearly four out of five respondents working in Yorkshire & NE were happy with their pay and benefits compared to 60.4% in London & SE and 60.2% in Manchester & NW.

In terms of work life balance, however, Londoners reported the worst work/life balance with only 49% satisfied compared to 61% in Manchester & NW and 57% in Yorkshire & NE.
