ICAS president appointed to FRC council

The president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, Ian Robertson, has been appointed to the council of the Financial Reporting Council.

Robertson was nominated by the consultative committee of accountancy bodies, and will take up the post on Wednesday (1 December).

Robertson said: 'The Financial Reporting Council plays an important role in the UK, regulating the accountancy bodies, undertaking a proactive role in compliance with company law and accounting standards.

'Following the high-profile corporate scandals in recent years, its responsibilities in relation to audit and auditing standards take on even greater importance. I am delighted to take up this position and provide business representation on the Council.'
