Cipfa, the public sector accountancy body, has joined forces with three other local government organisations to launch a new website that aims to improve councils' access to information.

'The improvement network' is a result of eight months' work from Cipfa, the Audit Commission, the Employers' Organisation for local government and the Improvement and Development Agency.
The site is primarily aimed at senior and middle managers in councils in England and will give access to troubleshooting tips, case studies, workshop formats, good practice, self-assessment checklists, performance indicators and hot topics.
Steve Bundred, Audit Commission chief executive, said: 'The Improvement Network is the first fruit from a dynamic new partnership between four of local government's major players who for the first time are joining forces to support the improvement in public services. We have brought out information together an shaped it into a format that will make the journey from problem to solution easy and fast for our users.'
