Microsoft in drive to sell accounting products

Doug Burgum, senior vice-president of Microsoft Business Solutions, has issued a rallying call to the software giant's partners and resellers to deal with the 'big challenge' of pushing greater sales of its business software.

He also urged Microsoft partners to view the SME sector as an 'addressable market' that is a 'huge economic opportunity.' Burgum made his keynote speech yesterday at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference, held in Toronto.

Burgum said that Microsoft can change the way companies interact with their customers and suppliers to help SMEs realise their potential, by using its business software.

Microsoft is also set to release new versions of financial management software products Great Plains and Navision.

He also claimed that mid-market businesses want 'one supplier' to provide them with a 'full business solution'.
