Blair adviser joins KPMG

KPMG has appointed Derek Scott, economic adviser to the prime minister, as an economic consultant.

Scott will provide advice on a range of issues affecting KPMG member firms globally, and will report directly to chairman Mike Rake.

He has been working with the prime minister since Labour's 1997 general election victory. Beforehand he combined working with Tony Blair with the post of director of European economics at BZW.

'Derek Scott has a first-class record as an international economist, and will be a valuable addition to our international capability,' said Rake.
