The Inland Revenue, underfire for the recent tax credits fiasco which saw thousands of claims held-up in a massive backlog, has gone to the other extreme by repeatedly offering credits to a woman who has no children.

Julie Ferguson, 41, told the Sunderland Today she keeps being offered almost £10,000 in tax credits from the Inland Revenue despite repeatedly telling them she has no children.
'They keep offering me almost £10,000, but I don't want it. They have got me mixed up with someone else,' she said.
Money was placed in her account after the Revenue apparently confused her with another 'Julie Ferguson' who has the same or similar national insurance number and has four children.
The problem is now being addressed by Revenue's tax credit team.
