Detlef Eckert, is joining Microsoft to work on its Trustworth Computing project.

Microsoft says it is doing nothing wrong as Eckert will be working in a business unit which aims to improve the security of the company’s software and will not be involved in any lobbying activity.

But the Computer and Communications Industry Association, which includes many Microsoft rivals, had held discussions with Eckert while he was at the EC.

CCIA president Ed Black the group had held sensitive discussions with the official, according to the Financial Times. ‘I wouldn’t have said what I said if Microsoft was sitting in the room,’ he is quoted as saying.

The EC is expected to rule on the Microsoft case within weeks.
