The musician's main creditors are his business partner Mike Nolan, who is owed £94,000, and two banks.
Van Day, who was part of 80s band Dollar, joined Bucks Fizz in 1995. But later, the singer left the band along with original member Nolan and set up a new band which also toured as Bucks Fizz.
A dispute over the name erupted when Nolan left the new band in 2001. The owners of the copyright of the Bucks Fizz name served an injunction against Van Day when the singer attempted to keep the band going under that name.
