In the current economic climate the spotlight is on finance and other business support functions to drive efficiencies and cost savings. Shared services centres are seen by many as a way to strip costs out of core business functions. But is it just about low-cost labour or can shared service centres drive a broader agenda that can improve the bottom line?

Discussing these issues with host Rachel Fielding are:

  • Niamh O'Brien, shared services advisor at IBM Global Business Services;
  • Tony Virdi, board director at the National Outsourcing Association;
  • Chris Tiernan, managing director of Grosvenor Consultancy Services;
  • Angela Cha, partner at Pinsent Masons.
