IT downtime at HMRC will disrupt online tax filers from 9pm today to 6am Wednesday
HMRC‘S ONLINE SERVICES will be down over the Easter break and beyond, meaning those looking to submit self-assessment, CIS, PAYE and corporation tax returns will not be able to do so.
The taxman said the downtime was to allow it time to get ready for the new tax year, but warned there there could be another IT downtime expected in October.
A statement said: “HMRC is committed to providing online services that are secure and reliable. To achieve this there are periodic IT releases, service upgrades and maintenance. Our services are unavailable during these times. We will always try to give as much warning as possible and to schedule them to minimise inconvenience.”
The taxman’s systems are “scheduled for maintenance and upgrade” from 9pm on Thursday 5 April to 6am on Wednesday 11 April for the following services: self-assessment, corporation tax, child trust funds, construction industry schemes (CIS), online agent authorisation, PAYE, pension schemes, shared workspace, and stamp taxes.
Other online services, such as VAT, will be out of action from Sunday 8 April for a period of either a few hours or a few days due to the upgrades.
Full details of HMRC’s online availability during the Easter break and beyond can be seen here.
