"UNLAWFULLY OBTAINED" phone records of the vice-chairman of West Ham chief Karen Brady ended up in the hands of PKF while it was "engaged" with rival club Tottenham Hotspurs.

The phone records were "unlawfully obtained by subterfuge" at the height of the dispute between the two clubs bidding for the Olympic Stadium, The Daily Mail reports.

The revelation was made at a recent court hearing brought about by Brady to obtain information about the "wrongdoers responsible".

At the hearing, Mr Justice Coulson said: "PKF was engaged by Tottenham Hotspur to carry out an investigation that was in some way connected with the Olympic Stadium.

"PKF have, in the last few days, said they do have copies of the wrongfully obtained telephone records."

Lawyers for Premier League side Tottenham said the club had not seen the phone records until the start of the legal proceedings.

Both West Ham and Tottenham had wanted to move into the £486m Olympic Stadium after the 2012 Olympics.

Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC), which owned the stadium, went with the West Ham bid, Tottenham responded with a legal challenge to the decision.

However, OPLC rescinded its decision and opted to dispose of the stadium and allow it to remain public and be rented out.

The case is due to continue at the High Court next Wednesday.
