TRAVEL COMPANY Cheapflights Media has appointed an interim chief financial officer to take over from the previous incumbent, who unexpectedly passed away last month.
Alan Martin, a chartered accountant, took up the role on 27 July, following the death of Simon Bicket on 9 July.
Martin qualified with Price Waterhouse in 1994 and has held a number of senior finance roles in the media, video game and online sectors. Before joining Cheapflights, he was Interim Finance Director for the Global Brands division of BBC Worldwide.
Hugo Burge, chairman and CEO of Cheapflights Media, said: "I am lucky to have worked with Simon for 11 years and have great respect for what he achieved for us and in his family life. His unexpected death was a huge shock for us all at Cheapflights but we celebrate his life and look to the future with fond memories and many thanks for all his contributions.
"We now bid Alan welcome aboard and believe that the legacy of the financial disciplines and controls Simon created, along with the excellent team he led, will ensure a smooth introduction for Alan into his new role."
