PWC HAS recruited investment banker Nick Atkinson as its head of debt advisory.

Atkinson was most recently at Bank of Canada where he established and ran the European Leveraged Finance team since 2008. Previously he headed up leveraged finance teams at Crédit Agricole and CIBC World Markets.

The Big Four firm is expanding its corporate debt business, which targets businesses seeking to raise capital and re-finance existing loans.

Atkinson, who has moved across from the Royal Bank of Canada, said: "This is a significant investment for us. It reflects the issues we foresee in the debt markets as well as the funding challenges and opportunities companies will face over the coming years."
