INTERCONTINENTAL HOTELS, owners of the Holiday Inn chain, has made CFO Richard Solomons its new chief executive.
Chairman David Webster said: "In Richard Solomons we have an able and worthy successor. Richard is a highly respected executive, with deep knowledge of our industry, our business and our brands. He is the Board's first choice to take the company forward."

Solomons takes over from Andrew Cosslett who steps down on 30 June. Solomons has made his name in the company. As a newly appointed divisional FD in 2001 he led the demerger of InterContinental from Britvic drinks.
A former FD for Britvic he has also been an investment banker with Hil Samuel and qualified as an accountant with KPMG.
