TWO FEMALE finance big-hitters have joined the board of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) as non-executives.

Stacey Cartwright, CFO of Burberry (pictured), joins GSK's audit and risk committee. Also joining is Judy Lewent, CFO of healthcare business Merck & Co.

"Their experience of global business and finance, and their respective knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and consumer brands, will bring a fresh, external perspective to the board," said Sir Christopher Gent, GSK chairman.

Cartwright joined Burberry as CFO in 2003, and was appointed executive VP, CFO, in June 2008. She previously served as CFO for Egg between 1999 and 2003. Between 1988 and 1999 she worked in finance roles at Granada Group.
