"My role is, in the relatively short term, to find a potential purchaser who is able to fund the club in the short term, so it can continue to fulfill its fixtures and then, therafter, to satisfy the Football League requirements in acquiring the club and transferring the share to a new company," Guilfoyle told the Plymouth website.
Administrators are currently searching for a potential buyer and said there are already several interested parties.
Guilfoyle (pictured) has worked on various football administrations in the past including Luton Town, Crystal Palace and Leeds United.
The club owes HM Revenue & Customs approximately £300,000.
