Duncan Magrath, FD of Balfour Beatty, is set to become the newest addition to the prestigious list of FTSE 100 finance directors if the engineering company replaces HBOS in the top flight index.
Stock Exchange officials are preparing to fill the void left by HBOS merging with Llloyds TSB and it is believed Balfour Beatty is in pole position to replace the bank.
Magrath, a chartered accountant and a graduate engineer, joined Balfour Beatty as deputy FD from Exel plc, where he was director of investor relations and financial strategy.
