Finance Bill out next Thursday

by Our Parliamentary Correspondent

19 Mar 2008

The Finance Bill implementing Chancellor Alistair Darling's Budget will be published on Thursday March 27th, the Treasury has announced.

The bill is likely to be pored over to assess whether there are any devils in the detail of new tax moves announced in the Budget.

Financial secretary Jane Kennedy told MPs in a written commons statement that explanatory notes would be available to them and peers in the vote office, printed paper office and the libraries of both houses of Parliament.

She added: 'Members of the public will be able to obtain copies of the explanatory notes from the Treasury. These will also be available on the Treasury website.'
