It may be the smallest of the Big Four, but Ernst & Young has a stronger brand name, than both Deloitte and KPMG, according to the Business Superbrands Council (BSC).

The firm was ranked the second best accountancy brand in the UK by the BSC.

Overall, E&Y, ranked 29th on a ranking of the UK's top 500 business brands beating Deloitte which managed just 50th spot and KPMG (ranked 42nd), to come just behind PwC.

Grant Thornton and BDO Stoy Hayward achieved rankings of 280 and 383 effectively.

The BBC topped the Business Superbrands Council ranking, followed by Microsoft and British Airways. Brands were rated according to quality, reliability and distinctiveness within their sector.
