by Judith Tydd

26 Feb 2009

Nathan Bostock has been appointed as head of restructuring and risk at the Royal Bank of Scotland, leaving his position as chief financial officer at Abbey National and Alliance & Leicester.

Bostock will report to Stephen Hester, the group chief executive of RBS, from June.

Commenting on the appointment, Hester said Bostock will play an important role managing the bank's risk position.

The role will incorporate management of the newly created non-core division of RBS, the asset protection scheme and the risk and legal functions of the bank.

Bostock has previously worked for Coopers and Lybrand and Chase Manhattan Bank.
