Private equity firms looking for an exit are thought to be pushing some firms towards a listing. But improvements in the equity markets are also expected to encourage more companies to float.
Companies considering flotation include Burren Energy, Inpharmatica, Wofson Microelectronics and Tussauds.
Neil Austin, head of new issues at KPMG said: 'There is certainly more appetite. A few more companies are indicating they might come to the market in the fourth quarter or the first quarter of next year.'
