Thomas Cook appoints former Deutsche Telekom CFO as new chairman

Thomas Cook Group has appointed Karl-Gerhard Eick, a former Deutsche Telekom chief financial officer, as its new chairman with immediate effect.

Eick will replace Thomas Middelhoff, the previous non-executive chairman, who has stood down from the board of the travel company.

Eick was previously CFO of Deutsche Telekom AG from 2000 to late 2008, and deputy chairman of the board from 2004.

Before that he held various positions for BMW AG in Munich and senior finance positions at WMF AG in Geislingen.
