Each household to pay towards expansion of broadband in the country
Households will be charged an extra 50p per month on their landlines to help
the government fund the expansion of faster broadband across the country.
Alistair Darling said in the pre-Budget report that he hopes 90% of the
population will have the “superfast broadband” by 2017.
