Accountancy software provider SAP has acquired Clear Standards, a carbon management technology company which is to be incorporated across all its products.
Clear Standard will be adapted so that it can extract financial data held in SAP products such as Business Suite 7, to provide businesses with measurements on green house gas emissions as well as other environmental impacts.
SAP co-chief executive officer, Léo Apotheker, said: 'It is essential that organisations gain actionable insight into their carbon emissions, water consumption, energy use and other environmental factors so they can lower their environmental impact.'
'With the acquisition of Clear Standards, we will accelerate our vision to deliver a complete set of solutions to enable end-to-end sustainable businesses' he added.
The deal took place in New York, will see all SAP products adapted to incorporate Clear Standards at a later date.
