Taking Stock: EY plays the catchphrase game

TS HAS ALWAYS been keen on catchphrases.
So much so, in fact, we’re quite partial to catching re-runs of Catchphrase on the Challenge channel when we’re occasionally released from our responsibilities of keeping our fingers on accountancy’s pulse.
While TS isn’t exactly convinced the new EY brand has struck gold with its “building a better working world” tagline, we’re pleased to see chairman and UK managing partner Steve Varley gamely getting on board.
Indeed, it seems to have struck quite a chord with him – to the point that he deployed it alongside the announcement of 52 new partners over the last 12 months.
In the press release accompanying the announcement, TS was delighted to read that Varley said: “There has never been a more exciting time to be part of EY; all of our partners have a crucial role to play in helping to build a better working world for our clients, people and the communities in which we work.”
As far as snappiness goes, TS reckons it’s close, but it’s not right. Better than that awful meerkat, though.
