North London man fined by the Information Commissioner's Office for offences under the Data Protection Act

An accountant has been hit with a fine from the Information Commissioner's Office after being prosecuted for not meeting key requirements of the Data Protection Act.
David Darko of Darko Consulting Ltd was ordered to pay £854.20 in fines, costs and a 'victims' surcharge' of £15.
The ICO said: 'The prosecution follows Mr Darko's failure to notify as a data controller despite repeated reminders from the ICO of his obligations under the Data Protection Act.'
The department reminded those with access to sensitive information that they might have to disclose it: 'Under the Act, organisations that process individuals' personal information may be required to notify with the Information Commissioner at a nominal cost of £35 per year.'
