Written by Barbara Buchanan

The former group services director and company secretary of Manchester Utd has been appointed FD of mobile phone messaging company Broca plc.

David Beswitherick, 52, takes over from Jocelyn Morgan who is leaving to 'pursue other business interests'.

Beswitherick worked for Manchester United between 1994 and 2006 initially as financial controller before his promotion to the board.

More recently he was group company secretary of Trader Media Group, a publishing company which was part of the Guardian media Group, and latterly chief financial officer of Myconostica Ltd, a medical technology company.

Ian Price, managing director of Broca, said: 'David has experience in a wide range of industries and with a number of companies in their early development. We look forward to drawing on this experience and to his injection of enthusiasm as we drive the business forward this coming year.'
