PwC runners record three-hour marathons

Recovery professionals notch up impressive time in London Marathon

Written by Barbara Buchanan

Accountants proved they are fleet of foot this weekend, with two business recovery directors at PricewaterhouseCoopers completing the London Marathon each in less than three hours.

Nigel Rackham came 129th out of 35,000 runners with a speedy two hours 36 mins while colleague Chris Tilbrook recorded a respectable two hours 50 minutes.

Their times were close to professional running standards which typically range from two hours to two hours 20 minutes.

Other runners from the profession were less speedy. KPMG partner Finbarr O'Connell finished the marathon in exactly six hours, while fellow KPMG partner Robert J Brent finished in 5:59.

E&Y managing partner Mark Otty was this year 'too busy' to run, the firm said. Otty ran the marathon in 3:12 last year. Andy Raynor, CEO of Tenon, did not run this year due to a broken foot.

Michael Mansfield, a senior manager from E&Y's financial services divsion, ran the race in 2:49, coming 459th.
