Grant Thornton recruit Gershon chief

Firm hires Treasury mandarin who worked on government efficiency reforms

Written by Rachael Singh

Grant Thornton has hired a Treasury chief responsible for pushing through the government's controversial efficiency reforms.

Clive Sparrow has joined the firm as a director in the government and infrastructure advisory team, having previously been a director of the efficiency team at the Treasury working on the Gershon reforms.

The reforms were the first stage of a series of cutbacks to bureaucracy in the Civil Service, which saw the government pledge to cut thousands of jobs.

Peter Cutler, head of the government infrastructure team at Grant Thornton, said: 'We are delighted to welcome Clive on board at a time when there is a great opportunity for the firm to grow its presence in central government.'
