An accountancy firm could be the preferred choice for the Football Association, looking to hire a company to carry out an independent audit on a number of its random deals.

Two weeks have passed after the transfer window opened for business but no firm has yet been named, despite a shortlist which includes forensic intelligence agency Quest, chaired by the former Metropolitan Police Commissioner Lord Stevens of Kirkwhelpington.

However there are concerns over choosing Quest, despite their experience in Premier League inquiries into transfers, the Telegraph reported. The FA fears that Quest's close links to the League could make them unsuitable for the job.
