BBC FD earns £380,000 despite rejecting bonus

Broadcasting corporation's annual report shows that Zarin Patel earns £386,000 after deciding she would take no bonus

CFO Zarin Patel took home a six-figure salary this year, despite waiving a bonus along with other senior BBC executives.

The BBC's latest annual report, released yesterday disclosed that the KPMG-trained finance chief took home £386,000 last year.

Top brass took the decision to reject any bonus awarded by the BBC's executive board remuneration committee in light of disappointing TV licence income.

Patel took up her post on 1 December 2004 after heading up the BBC's revenue management arm, which is responsible the department within the BBC responsible for collecting the television licence. She joined the BBC in 1998 as group financial controller, after qualifying at KPMG, whom she joined after graduating from the London School of Economics in 1982.
