Alliance & Leicester FD wins top job

Banking giant continues policy of recruiting from the ranks and elevates finance boss to the chief exec's job

Alliance and Leicester FD David Bennett has won the plum role of new chief
executive, the company announced this morning.

He replaces Richard Pym who will leave near the end of July.

Pym was the banking giant’s FD before he was made chief executive, and the company has continued its tradition of internal recruitment with Bennett’s appointment.

Chris Rhodes, currently MD of the company’s retail banking arm, will become the bank’s new FD.
