Sciciluna steps down as Deloitte UK chairman after 12 years, David Cruickshank takes his place

Martin Scicluna has stepped down as Deloitte's UK chairman, with David Cruickshank taking over the role.

Cruickshank, 48 years old, joined the firm as a graduate in 1979 and served as the leader of its national tax practice from 1998 until 2006.

John Connolly, chief executive and senior partner, said: 'I'm delighted by David's appointment. I am looking forward to working with him in his new capacity as chairman of the UK board of partners and am pleased that alongside his new role David will continue to advise a number of our most significant clients.'

Connolly also praised Scicluna's achievements after 12 years in the role: 'The partnership is grateful to Martin for his tremendous contribution to the vitality of the firm and the profession more widely.'

Scicluna stepped down from the role on 31 May.
