Former Oracle vice president settles SEC insider trading charges

Christopher Balkenhol, a former Oracle vice president, has settled insider trading charges filed against him by the Securities Exchange Commission .

The US watchdog charged Balkenhol with obtaining information from his spouse, who was also employed at Oracle, on Oracle's secret acquisition targets and trading in shares based on this information.

Balkenhol's wife was the lead assistant to two Oracle presidents and the Oracle chief executive.

Balkenhol paid $198,000 (£100,100) to settle the charges.
