Deloitte CEO backs Bush on open door foreign policy

William G. Parrett says speech is important signal to markets and trading partners

Deloitte CEO William G. Parrett, the chairman of the United States Council for International Business, has come out in support of a speech by US president George W. Bush

In a speech in New York, president Bush's reaffirmed his government’s open-door policy toward foreign investment in the United States and encouraged other nations to follow this approach.

Parrett welcomed the administration's statement, calling it an important signal to markets and U.S. trading partners.

‘This is the first time in some 15 years that the US has made such a high-level reaffirmation of the importance of open markets,’ he said. "Business sees US government leadership as critical to preserving open markets, and I applaud the President's commitment announced today,’ he said.
