Demand for accountants helps recruitment company see significant profits

Accounting recruiters Michael Page performed strongly on the back of the UK market for accountants and lawyers.

Turnover for its UK division leaped to £312m, from £270m from 2005. Operating profits increased by 38% to £44.3m for 2006.

The group also expanded its Accountancy Additions operation, which specialises in part-qualified and clerical accounting positions, by introducing three new offices into its 32-site network. It plans to increase the network to 50 offices by 2010.
