Accounting a 'soft option' for students

Take at least two serious subjects if you want a preparation for degree-level study, Cambridge University says

Cambridge University and other leading academic institutions have labelled accounting a soft option at A-Level.

The university has named the A-Level, taken by almost 4,000 people in 2006, as a less effective preparation for degree-level study.

Accounting is one of 21 subjects listed, of which Cambridge advises students should only take one, and concentrate instead on at least two 'academic' subjects.
