Bookkeeper jailed for million-pound theft

Bookkeeper admits theft from food supply company over seven-year period

Written by Kevin Reed

A bookkeeper stole more than £3m from her employers over a seven-year period, lavishing her family with luxury items such as boats and a riverside apartment.

Sharon Hibbert, who stole the money from food supply company BHJ UK Food, admitted at Hull Crown Court 11 specimen charges of theft and was jailed for four years. Her husband was given a three-year sentence after pleading guilty to money laundering.

The luxury items bought by Hibbert included a horse, sports cars and jewellry. Neighbours said that she ran out of space on her drive for all the gifts, reported The Times.
