The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland has named Anton Colella, the current chief executive of Scottish Qualifications Authority, as its new chief executive .
Colella will replace Des Hudson in October.
Hudson is leaving the institute to take over the Law Society in England and Wales.
Colella was a career teacher until he joined the SQA in 2001. He was previously deputy head of St Margaret Mary's secondary in Glasgow.
ICAS's president, Norman Murray, said Colella's 'track record in business and education' had influenced his appointment.
Murray said Collela's main job would be to continue to grow the institute’s numbers, while maintaining the quality of the student accountants being turned out.
