Clarification

In an article on AccountancyAge.com dated 18 January we ran an article headlined 'SFO to drop charges against former SSL chief'. In that piece we wrote that the former SSL director Paul Sanders was about to have charges against him of publishing false statements 'dropped'. The charges were in fact dismissed, not dropped, during a hearing at Chester Crown Court on 9 December, 2004.

This followed an application by Mr Sanders for the charges against him to be dismissed. We would also point out that charges against Iain Cater and Dieno George were similarly dismissed. We are happy to clarify any misleading impression our article may have caused.
