Alun Jones QC told the court that the motive for extradition had less to do with the men's alleged embezzlement of $20m from NatWest than US authorities' desire to get the trio to implicate people in the Enron scandal, The Guardian reported.

David Bermingham, Gary Mulgrew and Giles Darby deny accusations of conspiring to defraud the British bank in cahoots with Enron's former chief financial officer Andrew Fastow and financial chief Michael Kopper. The hearing continues.
